Don't scimp (is that a word) on photography for your wedding. When I hear all the planning of a wedding(which is awesome) and then hear, "well I can only pay next to nothing for a photographer.(that is upsetting part). Photographers are awesome! (not because I am one) They go around and capture your day to tell your wedding day story. No other vendor (except a videographer) can tell your wedding day story. Photographers are vital to a wedding. After the wedding location, the photographer should be next. (no other vendor can reproduce your wedding day-once it's over.)
In all the weddings that I've done, I've seen flowers that cost over $3500.00, Ive seen cakes costing thousands, I've seen Dj's cost over $3,000.00, I've seen a bride's dress over thousands of dollars, I've seen reception halls rented over $4,000.(with no food included), I've seen coordinators get paid more than I do at a wedding. Needless to say, I've seen it all. But, what I've also seen is couples that are wanting a really cheap photographer-what I mean is to get all they can from a photographer by paying the minimal amount possible.
It's amazing to me that after the wedding is over, the cake is gone, the flowers are trashed, the Dj played some good music, the bride's dress will be kept, the rental halls are nice, the food was great, but none of these can reproduce your day. The photographer & videographer are the one's that capture your day. So why scimp? Hire a photographer first. They are the one who is going to show your wedding day again. (through pictures).
What's important to you (besides the awesome commitment your making with your mate)? Don't you want to capture your day, and able to relive it again by photographs. So why is that couples want all the expensive flowers,cakes,food,reception hall,dj's, dresses,suits and a cheap photographer?
I say all that to say this, Don't try to squeeze a photographer in your budget. The photographer is a vital part of your day. They capture your day and then are able to show you your awesome day through there eyes.
